Wayanad, nearly 300 km from Bangalore , is perfect way to spend your extended weekend (3 days 2 nights).
NH212 is the longest but the best route to
Wayanad. You can see lot of wild animals while crossing Bandipur forest on the
way - after turning right at Gundlupet.
SH88 is also a good route, roads are OK but not as good as NH212. You can cross Nararhole national park
on the way and see the wild animals too.
Best would be to take one of these roads
there and the other one on your way back, that way you can cover
most of the areas and see a few national parks without having to
spend the whole day there.
Places to visit:
- BanasuraSagar Dam
- Edakkal Caves
- Phantom rock
- Pookode lake in Lakkidi, famous for Purple color lotus
- Kuruva Dweep
On the way back, evening time, we could see elephants, deers, bison, peacocks while crossing Bandipur Jungle
Better to book the hotel / resort in advance, however I could get a club cottage in Orchid Resort
If you want, they will take you to jungle walk in the morning
